Am I meant to be updating this?????

25th September, 2007. 10:00 pm. Do I have to go to work tomorrow?......

Seriously, do I have to? I know it pays some of the bills and all, but why do I have to go to work? All I want to do is go and sleep some more - I've been sleeping a minimum of 14 hours a day for the last four days and so don't want to have to work tomorrow. Still, at least I only have to work three days this week and four next week.

Friday I'm down to Bournemouth to see Wendy, Lindy and Mandy (along with Mandy's two sons) so we can celebrate the fact Stargate Atlantis starts again with the first episode of season 4 (Adrift) being shown in the States.

Did my first week of level 1 BSL last Thursday - didn't learn much more than I already knew from the Foundation course but it's still fun. I finally feel like I may have found something I'd like to do with my life - apart from writing but I never did anything about that.

When I was at work earlier this month, I came up with a list of things I'd like to do before I reach 50 (40 is too near for my liking). Anyways, here it is (in no particular order):
*Pay off all my debts
*Learn to ice skate
*Ski dive
*Learn to roller skate
*Move to Vancouver
*Learn to ride a skate board
*Do a bungee jump
*Learn to ski
*Get back into am dram
*Learn to play the piano
*Learn to play a guitar
*Learn sign language (see above)
Wonder how many I'll ever manage to do?

Going to bed now so nighty night folks.

Current mood: tired.

2nd September, 2007. 2:34 pm. Hoping these work, they got taken behind the scenes at the switch on

Make Notes

2nd September, 2007. 1:46 pm. Over five months later.......

.......and I'm finally updating again to this thing. :)

[info]loobilou, the great person that she is, came up from Bournemouth on Friday to see me. Well, really, she came to see David Tennant switch on the "apparently" world famous Blackpool Illuminations and I was the after thought.

And if you believe that of her then you're not that bright cause she is so not like that! :P

We got to have back stage passes and spent some time behind the scenes seeing everyone mingle around the hospitality tent. Of David Tennant, we saw him go onstage - well, [info]loobilou did as I was too busy in the tent getting something to drink. Coke, I swear! He switched on the lights, spent less than two minutes on stage to do it, then we saw him sprint away into the distance. And boy can he run - he's faster than Ben Johnson on speed. That said, we got within about 6 feet of him when he took off to go back to Cardiff. Oh yeah, it was interesting for a while cause he got stuck on the M6 trying to get to Blackpool and a Police escort had to be sent to get him to the switch on in time.

Fingers crossed I finally get to see the latest Harry Potter movie today as I haven't had the pleasure yet, [info]loobilou is being dragged along for her third viewing. Would you believe me if I said she's kicking and screaming the whole way? No, then you are brighter than you were if you believed my previous statement about her.

Dad goes back to work on September 10, he's been off work now for roughly 10 weeks after being admitted to hospital as an emergency patient. He had a problem with his waterworks and needed an op on his prostate, and not to be too graphic - he said it's not just women who get to have their feet up in stirrups.

Mum is doing well and most of the time you can't tell she had a stroke last October. She's happily going along, muddling through the days of her retirement.

Bro is doing well, and boy does he look well. He starts his Major course on September 10 which lasts for 9 months. He is going to be spending the weeks on the course and the weekends at home with the family. Sarah is leaving the Army and is meant to be starting her new job soon, once her medical clearance comes through. Becca is a joy, boy is she growing up quickly. And talking about growing up quickly, Emma starts school tomorrow! It only seems like yesterday that she was born.

Work is work and I'm plodding along asking for training so I can improve my job prospects. Apart from Friday, the boss won't be in the office for three weeks and guess who has two days off when she gets back in. :D

I've completed the BSL 6 week Foundation Course this week and got a certificate for doing so, and I sign up for the level 1 course next week. I'm really enjoying learning sign language - it's such a thrill being able to sign things to others.

Am now counting down till London MCM Expo in October, SG 12 in November and Pegasus 3 in January (two days after Sazzle's birthday).

Oh another thing I'm counting down to. [info]loobilou, Wendy and I are going to VANCOUVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're doing the Creation con (purely because we want the set visit and not for the con itself), and then spending some time in the city exploring. Aquarium, Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain, Hamburger Marys, Jericho Beach, Bridge Studios, and general sights here we come.

Yay, we're going to Vancouver. Yay, back to where we want to live.

Last two questions - how long will it take me to update again and when am I going to update on the Pegasus 2 con (with David Hewlett!)?????????????????????????

Current mood: relaxed.

30th March, 2007. 7:10 am. Blackpool Illuminations Switch On Announcement

It's been officially announced on the local radio here in Scum Puddle just now, that the Blackpool Illuminations will be switched on by David Tennant this year.

Yes, that's right, DOCTOR WHO IS SWITCHING ON THE LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The switch on usually happens the first Friday after the August bank holiday which would make the date of the big event Friday 31 August.

Back to your normal activities now - which for me is getting ready for work and thinking about the new series of Doctor Who starting on BBC1 tomorrow.

Current mood: excited.

26th March, 2007. 9:50 pm. Another short one

Update that is!!!! :P

This is basically an update just so I can say I've update each month so far this year as I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to post the big one - as I'm calling my rememberings about Pegasus 2 - before the month end. Yes, yes, I'll admit that I'm pathetic in the fact I haven't posted it yet.

What's happened - apart from the screenings of A Dogs Breakfast and Pegasus 2 cons?
Mum and dad have been over to Portugal on holiday and had a brilliant time.
Emma and Becky have been suffering with Chicken Pox - and yes I was in contact with them when they had it.
John is still a major and he starts his course in Shrivenham in September.
Unfortunately Sarah won't be doing the course now as she's decided to leave the Army, probably sometime in December.
Nanna (also known as The Old Bat) has been in and out of hospital with a broken arm after falling up the stairs into her bungalow.

Happy birthday to anyone if I've missed your birthday, I know I text Ruthie on hers but if there's anyone I've missed I'M SO SORRY!

Oh yeah - Paul McGillion is going to the London Expo, 26-27 May 2007. :D

And finally, a little something that I hope works.

Current mood: cold.

Basically I'm posting this in the aim of promoting the hilariously funny film A Dogs Breakfast, to a wider audience.

So.

Go.

Read about it at http://imdb.com/title/tt0796314/ and join in the fun.

9th January, 2007. 5:04 pm. Yo, Saz...

The first thing is, this is my second entry of the year! Saz, this is dedicated to the wonder that is you for nagging me to update more. :P~~~~

*snigger*

Now that is out of the way, what I have to say, somewhat belatedly, is "Happy New Year!" to everyone. Doh, how could I forget to to say that last time I posted? My brain must be fixated on something else - couldn't even begin to know what. :P

*mutters "24 days"*

Anyways, I hope everyone had a great time over the holiday period and that you're all raring to go in this (slightly old) new year. I made a new year resolution a while ago (okay, many years ago) which was the only one that I've managed to keep - and that was to never make another new year resolution.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this already but John has been promoted to major which is mega cool. He and Sarah have to go on a 8 month course that starts, I think, in August that involves a move for them. They're currently living in Amesbury, on a clear road that's about a 2 minute drive from Stonehenge, and have to move to Shrivenham near Swindon for the course. It's not too far from where they live, about an hour away, but it's a move in the right direction as far as dad, mum and I are concerned as it's going to knock an hour off the journey. Susan, Emma and Beeca's nanny, has agreed to go with them so that will be cool. Their new place will be close to the M4 which is cool cause I could go see them before/after a con. If they're not busy then, of course.

*still muttering "24 days"*

I've almost managed to clear my work desk - the first time since about April last year. The connection between April 2006 and January 2007? Oh, just a small thing - my boss was/is on a 3 week holiday in Australia. Amazing how much work gets done when she's not here to interrupt us all the time. It's not just me that finds that, quite a few members of the team have also found the same thing. Apart from that work is work and is plodding along. I'm waiting for the results from NEBOSH regarding the resit I did just before Christmas for the practical part of the General Certificate exam. The results are due out at the end of February, boy am I hoping I pass cause otherwise I'd have to sit all parts of the exam if I still want the qualification. That and pay the Council back for the cost of the course and the resit.

This isn't a resolution, cause as previously stated I don't make them any more, but Saz has made "comments" about my lack of posting/updating so I'm gonna try to do better this year. Oh, and mum has decided we need to lose weight so I'm gonna try and do something about that as well. Darn, it's starting to sound like I'm making resolutions!

*mutterings changed to "NO, no resolutions! I'm not making any resolutions, noooooooo..."*

That's something I haven't talked about yet, and that's my mum. She's getting there, she has good days when she seems almost back to normal and days when she seems like she's back to just after she first had the stroke. On the whole though, the good days far outweigh the bad even if it is like dad and I have a child to deal with rather than an adult. Dad is plodding along doing work and yet more work - boy will it be a good day when we either win the lotto (ha! like we have any hope of that) or he gets to retire. Only another 2 1/2 years till that date though mum reaches the grand of age of 65 on Thursday.

Which means, birthday wise, bro's is next Tuesday, Wadj's is next Wednesday, Saz's is 2 weeks today and Meesh's is 3 weeks away.

*ARGH! No money!*

What else haven't I talked about? Oh. I know - there are only 24 days till Pegasus 2. Woo hoo, yee haw, cowabunga and all those other exclamations of joy. I'm waiting for the tickets to arrive cause that makes the con seem more real. Okay, how a ticket in your hand can make a con feel more real I'm not sure but it does. Especially as Dale is going and I've got his ticket so it'll be nice to say to him that his ticket has arrived. Fingers crossed I get to see all of David Hewlett's talks, Denise has said it'll be okay for me to see them which is mega cool.

For some reason, cool seems to be "the" word of the day for me today. Cool.

*back to muttering "24 days"*

Current mood: hungry.

5th January, 2007. 6:13 pm. First post of the year

Howdy folks.

Well this is my first post of the year and I'm not too sure what to say, to tell the truth. I'm sure there are things that I could be saying but they've flown out of the squirrel den.

Hmm.

Well I had the week before Christmas away with my parents down in Cornwall. It was nice and relaxing, beautiful views and warm sunshine made the news of heavy fog and disruption of flights from Heathrow and motorways, etc., a bit hard to believe though. I got through three books that week whilst relaxing, boy was it a great way to wind down. Sitting reading, listening to the Atlantis soundtrack with a drink next to me or working. No contest as it turns out. lol

I spent Christmas at my brothers place which was brilliant - Emma and Becca had the time of their lives. Emma was Auntie Annie mad cause, when asked, everything had to be done by Auntie Annie. And I mean everything: reading a story, making her food, getting her into bed, brushing her hair - you get the idea. Don't get me wrong, Auntie Annie LOVED it though she does realise it's more than likely gonna be grandad who is asked for next time.

Work is going okay for once - the boss is on holiday in Australia and doesn't get back into the office till January 16. It's astounding how much work I'm managing to get done without her around!

So. Onto TV.

Who saw "Doctor Who and the Runaway Bride" at Christmas? Whatcha think of it? 7pm Christmas Day saw me sat in the living room at my brother's house with dad, mum, bro and Sarah all hyped cause I was going to be able to watch it and... And it ended up that Sarah asked me a whole load of questions cause although she enjoys it, she's missed the David Tennant series so some of it (like Torchwood references and what happened to Rose) didn't make sense. Bro made comments about how much I need to get a life cause I was answering them while dad and mum were sitting there staring at me as if it was ME that was the Martian. Anyway, from what I saw I thought it was brilliant. I have seen it again since Christmas and the second viewing has only confirmed how much I enjoyed it.

I saw the last two episodes of Torchwood (Captain Jack Harkness was the penultimate episode and End of Days was the final one) on New Years Days and WOW. I won't saying anything in case you haven't seen them but I was sitting here bouncing when it came to the last bit of End of Days. I text Dale straight away and I can't say what he text back, cause that would ruin what happens at the end, but I'm like, "I know, how cool!" back. I need someone - yes, Saz, I mean you - to watch it so I can talk about it.

Cons and a certain film

It's now only 4 weeks till Pesgasus 2 and I've been counting down for what seems like ages. Of course, anyone who has read my previous posts knows how happy I am that David Hewlett (Rodney in Atlantis) was announced as a guest back in August 2006. Well his younger sister Kate, she played Rodney's sister Jeanie Miller in the Atlantis episode McKay and Mrs Miller, is also going to be attending the con so that's mega cool.

A bit of David news - he announced on Tuesday he is hoping to do a London screening of his film, A Dogs Breakfast, on 01 February in his blog (which is located on his site www.adogsbreakfastmovie.com). I've already talked Saz into going down to London on the Thursday and she's agreed to go to the screening so I'm bouncy.

More David news that he announced today on his blog - he got engaged to his girlfriend Jane at Christmas - needless to say that entry has tons of comments. lol :D

Better late than never?

I need to say "Happy Birthday" to all my friends I've missed saying it to - Tracy (December), Karen(December), Wendy Wabit(December) and my cousins Gareth (December)and Brian(January). Oh yeah, also to Micheal Shanks (December) along with Joe Flanigan and Paul McGillion who both turn a year older today.

Wow, I'd hate to see an update if I was sure of what to say!!!!!!!!

Current mood: cheerful.

2nd December, 2006. 9:19 pm. Wow it's December already...

The last entry I made was back in October which is hard to believe. It feels like only yesterday I made the entry, so to realise that it'd been over a month was a bit of an eye opener.

So. What have I been up to?

I had a whale of a time at the London MCM Expo back at the end of October - got to see Joe Flanigan again which was great because he's a really nice guest (my icon is one of the photos I took of him in his talk on the Sunday). I had my photo taken with him three times (once by myself and once with my mate Wendy on the Saturday and once by myself on Sunday) and got some autographs. According to Denise he mentioned my bouncing (not caused by lemonade this time, it was vanilla drinks from Costa Coffee that were the culprits me thinks), mind you she did think I was going to squash him I was that bouncy on the Sunday.

Then two weeks later I had another whale of a time at Wolf Events SG-11 where Paul McGillion and Teryl Rothery were two of the guests. I had a brill time at the meet 'n' greet with Vicky, Wendy, Emily, Kate, Ruthie and others so that was a cool start to the weekend. I was in the photo sessions on both the Saturday and Sunday and had the time of my life. Paul auctioned off some items and I bid silly money (I finally stopped at £335 and I'm sooooo not telling my parents about that) for his side (apparently from what I remember they are the pages of the script the actors shoot that day) from the episode 'The Tao of Rodney' (Doctor Rodney McKay is one of my two fave Atlantis characters) that hasn't shown yet. It finally went for £350 to someone called Chris but I had run from the room by then (Elvis has left the building moment). I did get a Battlestar Galactica badge from Paul for helping to drive the price up though.

One thing that was constant that weekend was a group of us (the afore-mentioned Vicky, Emily, Wendy and Kate being some of the members) who were publicising "A Dog's Breakfast" - a film by Stargate Atlantis actor David Hewlett (he plays Rodney). He wrote, directed, produced (along with his girlfriend) and stars in the film - along with Paul McGillion, Rachel Luttrell and Chris Judge from the Stargate universe and his real life sister (who not only plays his sister in the film but has also played his sister in Atlantis) Kate Hewlett. As part of publicising the film at SG-11 some of us wore t-shirts (designed by Emily and printed for me by Vicky) on the Saturday that had the film on the front - Vicky, Emily, Wendy, Kate and I had a photo taken with Paul whilst we were wearing them. Thanks to a suggestion by the great and wise Lil, we ended picking Paul up so he was lying across our arms in the photo - boy is it a cool shot. If anyone knows how/if I can upload a photo to my LJ then please let me know so I can put it up here.

So that is two events, two brilliant times and Saz was there at both of them to accompany me and to help the weekend pass the best it could.

What else?

Mum is not only home, she's also improving all the time. She must be, she now complains about things where before she would just smile!

John came up with Emma and Becca on the Monday I came home from SG-11 and I had a great week with them. Sarah came up on the Friday (she'd been at work that week) and we had a great weekend. We saw Casino Royale Saturday evening, boy does Daniel Craig make a great James Bond - Sarah and I both want to see the film again.

I went to Collectamania in Manchester during the day on the Saturday John and the others were up (before rushing home to see the film) where I met up with Wendy and her son Chris (that's a different Wendy to the one mentioned before - the other Wendy is Wendy Wabit and this Wendy is Major Wendy), Linda, Wadjet and her daughters Rivka and Rochel, Vicky, Wendy (this one is Wendy Wabit), Kate and others. Oh yeah, and Joe Flanigan again. I got his autograph, again, and had my photo taken with him, again. Kavan Smith was also there - he plays Major Evan Lorne and is SUCH a sweetie. It'd be great to see him at a full con - Pegasus 2 is in 8 weeks and 6 days (yay David Hewlett will be there!!!!) so I can but live in hope that maybe he's added to the line up.

I'm sure there's tons of stuff I am missing from this post but I guess it'll just mean I need to update again soon when I figure out what it is I've forgotten!

Current mood: lazy.

25th October, 2006. 5:30 pm. How easy?

I've just renewed the Tax on my car on-line - how easy can it get?

1) Sit at my computer and not go out in the terrible weather
2) Log onto the DVLA site
3) Input my car registration document reference number
4) Input my car registration number
5) Choose either 6 or 12 months
6) Input my credit card details
7) They send the disc to my home and I stay dry.
Woo hoo.

Oh yeah - spoke to mum on the phone today and she seems to think she's being released on Saturday though dad is going to confirm that tomorrow. If it's true and bro does come up, dad is going to send bro over to collect her which will be a surprise as she doesn't know bro may be visiting. Shame I won't be here to see it but I'm at Expo. :D

Current mood: happy.
